[UPDATE] Jang Geun Suk spotted in a Japanese textbook
Hallyu star Jang Geun Suk was recently spotted in a secondary school year Japanese textbook by a Japanese netizen who uploaded the screenshots onto Twitter.
The section introduced the star stating, ‘Oversea star active in Japan‘, along with a photo of the star grinning brightly. The chapter content from the 3rd year secondary school textbook discussed international trading in globalization and cultural exchange.
Jang Geun Suk was also spotted in a 1st year secondary school Japanese textbook for English classes. However, this time, the star was listed next to a few other well-known global stars such as Emma Watson and Lady Gaga.
Jang Geun Suk has not only appeared in educational material, but also appeared in numerous comic books and anime as well, proving his rising popularity in Japan.

JKS made up the sweet atmosphere with his fluent Japanese
SUNTORY announced that the new TV CF of “Seoul Makkori”, “Cheers with Seoul Makkori” version was going to be broadcast throughout Japan on Feb. 22. The CF has continued to star a very popular Hallyu star, Jang Keun Suk. He appeals the semi-sparkling suaveness and the convenience because of the canned Makkori to the viewers.
SUNTORY announced that the new TV CF of “Seoul Makkori”, “Cheers with Seoul Makkori” version was going to be broadcast throughout Japan on Feb. 22. The CF has continued to star a very popular Hallyu star, Jang Keun Suk. He appeals the semi-sparkling suaveness and the convenience because of the canned Makkori to the viewers.
The setting is a white “Makkori Bar” and a bar man performed by JKS makes a toast with a woman who first drinks it, showing her the charm. His new song “RAIN” is used as the background music. It helps to enhance the sweet atmosphere.
The shooting was taken place in suburbs of Seoul, Korea this January. The set of Makkori Bar was recreated as the same as that used in the previous CF.
It’s been a year since we shot last, but he performed quite well like a real bar man who serves drinks to guests every night. When we shot the scene that he exchanged words with the woman, we felt like a gentle and sweet breeze. It’s JKS’ world.
What surprised the CF crew was his Japanese skill. He instantly understood the setting and production of acting without interpreters. Besides, he discussed how to act in detail such as stage business. Although it was marathon shooting, we succeeded to finish it smoothly not to have concentration problems.

Last week, hallyu star Jang Geun Suk received attention for his alleged sexual harassment against Japanese AV star Aoi Sora. Various Japanese media falsely reported that when asked, “What do you want to eat most while in Japan,” Jang Geun Suk replied, “I want to eat Aoi Sora.” However, netizens tracked down the actual clip of the interview and proved that no such mistake on Jang Geun Suk’s part happened. When asked what he wanted to eat, he answered, “Sushi.” Aoi Sora was never mentioned in the clip.
On February 21, Jang Geun Suk tweeted, “This is it!” along with a photo of a large plate full of sushi, expressing his frustration over the issue. Shortly after, he tweeted, “끝! おわり! finish!” (finsh in Korean, Japanese, and English) and uploaded another photo, this time of himself glaring into the camera.
Netizens commented, “Cheer up oppa! Everyone will forget about this entire incident soon!” “Ignore it!” “The sushi looks so good,” and more.

1,400 Japanese fans in attendance for Jang Geun Suk’s recent fan meet
Jang Geun Suk proved that he was still a leading figure of Hallyu.
The actor/singer recently held a special fan meeting, ‘2012 Lotte Duty-Free Shops Jang Geun Suk In Star Avenue‘ at the Dom Art Hall in Children’s Grand Park on January 28th. An impressive 1,400 Japanese fans showed up for the event, proving the star’s international fame.
The meet and greet was nothing short of a concert. Jang Geun Suk sang “Hello Hello“, the soundtrack to his drama, ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night‘, as well as his Japanese debut single “Oh My Darling“, and his yet to be released upcoming single, which earned the warm applause of the audience.
He also planned a few special events for the fans, and gifted one of the winners with a T-shirt and jacket he personally wore during one of his advertisement shoots. The star also selected two members of the audience to come on stage and take pictures with him, and revealed photos of himself which were taken during his day to day activities & his World Tour.
This venue in particular held fan meet and greets in rapid succession, as JYJ held one at the location on the 14th, followed by Kim Hyun Joong who held a meet and greet on the 21st. Boy group Big Bang also held one at the same location right after Jang Geun Suk, which caused quite the stir amongst their fans.
